Lasting Light Poetry August 8, 2002
Hello Again! Happy August to you all. I have a brand new poem this time to share with you. It's called "Eternity's Door" and there is a fantastic photograph by Randolph Wang of a place I've been. Point Reyes, California. Let the music carry you along. Please have a look.

Deja Vu or Maybe New ~ The sweet joys of sitting on the porch with a friend is the focus of "Together". ~ "Waking Dream" remains one of my personal favorites. On a beautiful summer's night with stars all around, it's the perfect place to spin a dream or two. ~ On a day when life gets me down, there is Someone I turn to. I can always find "Consolation" in my time with Him. I hope you will too. I absolutely love the watercolor here by Chunk Schenk. Join me and let these pages soothe you this summer's day or night. Have a look.

This is the easiest and tastiest French toast I have ever had! I like mine with powdered sugar on top. Enjoy!
Cooking spray Spray a 13 by 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Arrange bread slices to fit in single layer in dish; sprinkle with cinnamon. In a bowl, beat eggs with milk, syrup, butter and vanilla just until blended. Pour evenly over bread. Bake immediately or cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake uncovered 30 minutes or until firm to the touch. Garnish with fruit. Serve hot, with additional syrup.

~~ Honey Milk Balls 1/2 cup honey Measure 1/2 cup honey and 1/2 cup peanut butter into a bowl. Add and stir in 1 cup nonfat dry milk and 1 cup oatmeal. Use spoon to divide the mixture into 24 balls on a sheet of waxed paper or a clean plate. Shape each spoonful into a round ball between your hands. Place balls on a plate to serve. Tastes great along with a cold glass of milk.
(I'm thinking this would be fun to let the kids make some afternoon!)

Note from Karen ~ It's so good to be back with you all again. We are more than halfway through summer now. August is the only month without a holiday, but how about creating one of your own? Celebrate yourself, your family, or whatever is close to your heart. Turn off the television for a day and take a short drive or walk for a little exploring. There are wonders all around you if you only have eyes to see them. I saw a small wonder out my kitchen window. My hummingbird was flying in place studying the spinning whirligig I had stuck in a pot. The red and silver colors caught his eye and I'm sure he thought it was the most amazing flower he'd ever seen. His good sense told him there certainly was no nectar there! ~ Thanks again for your letters and guestbook signings. Encouragement is like oxygen....it helps to keep us going. Shine on.......Karen

Finally ~ A scripture to ponder...............
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
