I'm a heart that's filled with pictures
Of places I have seen
A glimpse of evening sunset
On still waters so serene
A snapshot of a party
Celebrating someone dear
The echoes of their laughter
Is something I still hear
I'm a walk along the ocean
As the waves caress my feet
And the one who's looking far away
Where the sky and water meet
I'm a face you might remember
Or one you might soon forget
I am laughter, tears, and dancing feet
I am the friend you haven't met
I'm the sadness on a blue day
When the rain is falling hard
Or the silence in the midnight
Bare feet running across the yard
I'm the seeker, I'm the searcher
Restless heart that travels on
Finding comfort in a verse or two
From a well remembered song
I am part of all around me
Yet I sometimes stand alone
In a world that stops for nothing
I'll keep a pace that's just my own
I may live right in this moment
But there's so much more at my command
It's the memories of the journey
That make up all the things I am
