Artwork of Robert Williams

Step lightly on the glistening sand
As you wade along the shore
For there are shells and pebbles there
From the depths of the ocean's floor

My eyes adjust to dimming light
As the sunset starts to fade
And I stop and find I'm mesmerized
By the sound of dancing waves

A lone gull screams above my head
But I won't look up to see
For there are mysteries I seek
Lying right here at my feet

The dense, cold sand between my toes
        Gives me a sudden chill
And I catch my hat as a sudden breeze
        Dissolves my once strong will

I hug myself as I find the path
That leads to where I'll stay
And the warming glow of a single light
        Beckons me from evening's play
