In the Springtime there were butterflies
And daisies by the score
A barefoot girl running through the yard
Playing hopscotch, jacks, and more
The endless days of Summer
Were woven with countless dreams
The starry nights and blazing fires
By a rushing mountain stream
When Autumn's golden abundance
Filled my heart with awe
The harvest of a happy heart
Was my reward for all I saw
Then Winter winds blew fiercely
I shut the windows tight
And quietly enjoyed the peace
Of a hearth warmed cozy night
I view things from a distance now
That so many seasons bring
Of love and loss and happiness
And find my memories have wings
I can fly above the heartaches
And hold happy times so near
The seasons live within my soul
No matter the time of year
