A new morning beckons
As the fog slips away
All nature is waking
Night melts into day
Sweet fragrance of grasses
Touched gently with dew
Bring memories and heartstopping
Dreams we once knew
How many brave souls
Wandered over these plains?
To find something better..
Their footsteps remain
Look close at the beauty
You see it, I know
And remember the prairies
Keep them safe, keep them whole

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sun rise.
~William Blake
"Eternity"
Karen's Note: Blake shares his wisdom that life's joys are fleeting and best
held in an open hand. The things that really matter are the things we cannot
replace. |
