There is a rhythm in my heart
That holds fast to a beat
Of the places that I've been
And the people that I meet
A minor chord is common
Because life has sad long days
And the quickening beat of happiness
Chases shadows far away
The hushed tones of my memories
Blend with sunshine on my face
And the song carries me on magic wings
To another time and place
When I rest my song is the softest hum
And in dreams I join an angels choir
I feel no more ties to this mortal plane
And I rest in God's arms just a while
Waking moments bring me to here and now
I resume the journey that I'm on
But I know somehow I will find my way
As long as I still have my song

If we spend our time with regrets over yesterday,
and worries over what might happen tomorrow,
we have no today in which to live.
