Into The New

The past is slowly fading now
Like some dim fantasy
The things I knew, and all I felt
Seem but pointless reverie

I close my eyes, remembering
Yet my thoughts keep pushing on
The reality of this very day
Is the place where I belong

Today the sun is shining
And this night will bring some rain
Old memories can make me smile
But they also bring such pain

I look bravely to the future
At the road which lies ahead
I'll let go of things that might have been
And embrace this day instead

And now let us welcome the new year
full of things that have never been.
