Please walk with me at sunset
We'll bundle up so warm
And take in all the beauty
Before the coming storm
I spent all morning baking
Putting treasures into tins
To give to friends and neighbors
And in parcels I can send
The nap I took was cozy
Winter has it's finer points
Can we walk a little slower
I'm feeling all my aching joints!
And so two friends walked slowly
As the day began to fade
Their footsteps could be traced
In the snow upon the glade
Their laughter echoed brightly
As they shared a joke or two
And the sky burst into a sunset
Filled with every fiery hue
A merry song resounded
As the lights of home grew near
It spoke of love and peace on earth
And all things they held dear
So they parted with a friendly hug,
There was no need for further talk
Tomorrow they would meet again
For another winter walk

God has not promised skies always blue,
flower-strewn pathways all our lives through;
God has not promised sun without rain,
joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God has promised strength for the day,
rest for the labor, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
unfailing sympathy, undying love.
