Transformation

The winter was so very long
Short days and endless nights
The harsh, cold winds were bitter
Just artificial heat and light

Some days my soul would linger
In valleys deep and wide
I was unsure what I needed
But there was emptiness inside

I know you let me wander
Where I thought I had to go
No matter if it made me cry
You were always there, I know

Who else knows the human spirit
Except the one who lived it all?
He knows though I may wander
I'll hearken to his call

A woman has her seasons
Of happiness and calm
And then there are the other times
We're fighting through the storm

Spring has brought her special gifts
Like sunshine on my face
And all the gloom of winter
Disappears without a trace

I notice weeds I need to pull
But I don't mind at all
I see new flowers growing there
Did I plant them? I don't recall

I feel the song within my heart
Change from sad sounds into praise
And I realize God makes all things right
Transforming night to day

So as I tend my garden
The Lord, he tends my heart
His love so faithful follows me
As I make a brand new start

Let us be like a bird for a moment perched
On a frail branch when he sings;
Though he feels it bend, yet he sings his song,
Knowing that he has wings.
