Consolation

My heart was uncertain
The answers weren't clear
My thinking and planning
Seemed grounded in fear

I looked up to heaven
And started to pray
"I'm needing Your help"
Was all I could say

My sleep was so troubled
With dreams of the past
I woke up at daybreak
My heart beating fast

A soft rain was falling
Such a comforting sound
Like a heavenly lullaby
As it danced to the ground

I lit sweet scented candles
To brighten my day
"Thank you God for my blessings"
Was all I could say

It's amazing the comfort
Those words brought to me
In the depths of my spirit
There was tranquillity

I realized that my problems
Would always be there
But it's deep consolation
Finding God's tender care

When I remember the fine gifts
I've received through the years
None compares with His abiding love
That overcomes all my fears

The quality of mercy is not strained,
It drops as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: It is twice blest;
It blesses him that gives, and him that takes.
